Salam alekum!
Good work David for creating this site, we'd all be lost without you to organise us!

A BIG hello to BAKRI & ALI, I'm so happy to see you are writing. How is Siwa? It must be a bit quiet there without Cleo & Pat going mad. Can you believe it has been 2 years since we left? Time goes too fast.

BAKRI, it sounds like you had fun in Upper Egypt with David & Jutta. I must have been great to enjoy the Nile instead of the desert for a change. Is that your house in the photo? It looks so beautiful. I can only imagine how nice it is inside with all your special things. I bet you are making an amazing garden too. Save a spot for Cleo & Pat to camp in someday. How many animals have you got now? You should open the Siwa Zoo. Remember when we stole that puppy from Bir Wahid? How could you forget! And that's just one of the crazy things Cleo & Pat made you do. (like the fire hose incident).
So where is this restaurant you are managing? And what's this about camel farming? That sounds like a cool idea! Is Hanny still working at Cleopatra Hotel? He was by far the best boy there, except for you!
So what all the latest Siwa gossip then? You'd better write & tell me!

Now ALI, how are you my friend? I hear that you are head chef in the best restaurant in Siwa? Well done, you deserve a great job like that! I hope you still make chips because when Cleo & I come back one day that's all we will be able to afford. Oh, maybe some tahina as well. So who else is working with you? Do you still live in the same house? I wrote a letter to all my Siwan friends last year. I send it to Abdullah Baghi because I thought he would translate it. Did you ever get to read it? I hope so. Have you still got the Handicrafts Shop in the market square? I guess you must be busy now that you are a star. Hey, remember when I cut my foot in Alexander's & you came to the hospital? It was soooo dirty & you nearly fainted. I still have the scar to remember Siwa by.

Well, my life is going great here in New Zealand! I have been working as a schoolteacher up until now, but I just moved to a new city called Tauranga about a month ago & started 2 new companies. One is an Adventure Travel company, taking foreign students on adventure weekends. The other is called Sahara Stone, making stone sculptures & garden art. I'm REALLY happy & life is treating me well.

Cleo is living about an hour away in a place called Rotorua. She's got a very good job as marketing manager for the newspaper. That means she's a big boss & has to work hard. She's doing really well though. We still spend lots of time together OF COURSE.

Well, that's enough writing from me! I can't wait to hear from you Bakri & Ali so please write soon! Also give me your phone numbers so I can call if I'm ever feeling rich.

I miss the desert like you wouldn't believe. NZ is beautiful but nothing compares to Siwa & the Sahara.
Enjoy your own piece of paradise & think of Cleo & Pat when the sun sets, for it will be just rising here.

Sweet Dreams,
Love Pat
