Salam Alekum my old friends!
I was SO excited when I checked the site & found it had finally come alive again! Lucky you David, being in Siwa again, I wish I could just blink my eyes & be there.
Wow! So Aloush has a new restaurant, he always had a good brain for business. And Bakri (zookeeper & master chef) is running the show, that's great news! Where is it? Tell me more! Do you cook whole chickens for large groups of children? (I hope not or you might get a potato thrown at your head)
How long will you be staying there David? I guess if you're anything like us you'll never want to leave again. What about Jutta? Is she coming to see you?
I can't wait to hear more about Bakri's Zoo! Hopefully there's been alot more joy than tragedy with the animals these days (& no stolen puppies).
So what else is news in town? Tell me some stories... (slightly exaggerated is fine). Are there many tourists about? Any long-stayers or mad folk?
Cleo is living about 5 hours away from me in Wanganui (too bloody far). She's a high-powered business woman these days, you guys would be very impressed! She's a bit of a star that girl.
As for me, I just landed my dream job yesterday! I'm going to be an Outdoor Educator for schools, teaching Environmental Studies to kids & teenagers. From the Forest to the Sea, following the course of Rivers in between. I've been a teacher for 10 years now so I'm really excited to be moving in a new direction in Education.
We're selling our tour company, we just don't have enough time to do it! We'll still be taking bush tours to see kiwis in the wild though, just on a smaller scale really.
We love our new house. It's fun doing gardens & building stuff! There's plenty of room so anyone's welcome to come & stay! We'll show you some 4x4 of a different kind. We've got a Toyota Hilux & Quad Bike & we spend alot of time off road. But I tell you, sand is much easier to shake off than mud! I really do miss the desert enormously. When I return oneday & gaze upon those endless dunes, I will definitely have tears of happiness in my eyes. Oh how I long to be there sometimes!
I still desperately want some of Bakri's music! Can you possibly copy some of his old CD's? And the names of any new stuff? I tried to look some up a while back but it wasn't as good. I'd really appreciate it.
Well, I'm really glad to have Bakri's mobile number so I'll text him now & see if he replies! Yay! I'm so happy to be in contact again.
Thinking of you all with a big smile on my face, have some baba ganoush for me.
Lotsa Love
Pat xxx
